Sony Ericsson Q2, profits down on low margins
Low prices seem to be the complaint de facto of mobile phone manufacturers–Sony Ericcson said Q2 sales were up but profits were down. Earlier today Samsung announced that increased price pressure put a crimp on second quarter profits.
Sony Ericsson’s second quarter numbers:
- 11.8 million units shipped (14% increase)
- 1.61 EUR billion revenue (16% decrease)
- 75 EUR million profit
Sony Ericsson has faced increase competition over the past year and as a result saw a drop in market share. Several new handsets should begin shipping during the next quarter.
Sony Ericsson has upgraded its global market outlook for 2005 to over 720 million units
