Q2 global mobile phone shipments reached 188 million
According to Strategy Analytics, an independent global research and consulting firm, 188 million mobile phone units were shipped world wide in the second quarter of 2005. Q2 number of shipments increased by 18 percent over the same quarter a year ago.
The same report revealed that 361 million units were sold in the first half of the year. Strategy Analytics estimates the total 2005 sales to reach 775 million handsets, an increase over the 2004 recorded shipments at 680.5 million.
Nokia Corp and Motorola Inc are leading in sales in emerging markets.
