Investing in Mobile TV
Increase in mobile TV investing allows mobile television companies to cash in on venture capital and tech company funding.
MobileTV, Inc. closed the first round of Series C financing led by Oak Investment Partner, totalling $70 million.
Funding will be used for worldwide mobile television and radio service expansion in response to planned “overwhelming demand.”
MobileTV service launched in November 2003 and it already has more than million paying subscribers.
Current service offerings allow subscribers to tune in their mobile devices to most current news, sport events, entertainment programming, and music videos.
The service allows consumers to receive media in two formats, live or prerecorded.
According to Juniper Research estimates, by 2011 MobileTV will increase its streaming services annual revenue to $11.7 billian from its worldwide operations and $4.2 billion from its streaming services.
