Mobile business intelligence for BlackBerry
Cognos plans to disconnect office users of its business intelligence software and make the software available on mobile devices. The current plan is to launch a first version of business intelligence software on BlackBerry early in 2007.
The Cognos 8 GO! Mobile will allow executives and managers make better decisions while distanced from the office and their PC.
Cognos development team was able to overcome some of the issues with getting complex business intelligence tools to a tiny mobile device. The most challenging issues that needed to be solved were the information presentation and navigation, mobile security, and bandwidth usage.
Cognos will also launch its mobile software on Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems, in the second half of 2007, following the BlackBerry launch.
