Google Maps for Windows Mobile

Today, Google extended its Google Mobile Maps services by releasing a new version of the software to support devices running Windows Mobile 2003 and higher. The new version of Google’s maps has access to interactive maps and satellite imagery.

Services supported by mobile Google Maps include:

  • business locator
  • point-to-point driving directions
  • live traffic updates

The Windows Mobile 5.0 version of Google Maps is GPS-enabled, so users with GPS supported mobile devices can take advantage of mapping their current location.

The new release allows Windows Mobile users to join the millions of others using this software. Google is committed to making its mobile services available to a wide range of users by overcoming the mobile device barriers, one device at a time.

Google Maps for mobile on Windows Mobile is optimized for the platform with the integration of the device-specific features such as contacts integration and tap-and-hold menus.

Google Maps for mobile is a free application that was first released in the U.S. in November 2005, and is now available in the U.S. on most J2ME-enabled devices, all color BlackBerry devices, and all Palm devices running OS 5 and above.
