Posted on April 26th, 2007

Research in Motion, maker of BlackBerry, is releasing a software suite which runs a virtual BlackBerry on mobile devices running Windows Mobile 6.

Virtual BlackBerry will allow users of other mobile devices to take advantage of BlackBerry software services and applications.

The new software suite will be released later this year with a full support for BlackBerry service connectivity via BlackBerry Enterprise Server as well as BlackBerry Internet Service. Users will have access to all of the applications developed for BlackBerry platform including, but not limited to: email, phone, browser, instant messaging, tasks, memos, address book and full application environment.

“Extending BlackBerry applications to a broader range of devices is an important element of RIM’s strategy to provide an open platform that supports industry standards and addresses the various needs of our customers and partners,” said Mike Lazaridis, RIM president and co-CEO.
