Yahoo! has broadened the mobile search service, ONESearch, to users in Europe and Canada, with the goal of providing locally relevant results.

The search was initially introduced to US customers in March 2007, now the service will be available in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.

The ONESearch service in addition to the search feature also provides news, local weather, financial updates, and images.

Yahoo! is trying to win the more dominant player fight with Google in the fast-emerging mobile web market.

“What consumers want from a mobile search is entirely different to what they want on the PC” said Geraldine Wilson, head of Connected Life business unit in Europe.
